There is simply no public figure today that I would truly miss if they go. Steve Jobs is the man of exception.
From my first computer, the Apple ][c, through all the many iterations of the apple brand, including Quadros, Powerbooks, iMacs, iBooks, G3, G4, PowerMacs, iPods, iShuffles, iPhone, iPad... and many more in between. It is THE quintessential brand that influenced me throughout my life and career.
It is a small comfort to see a shared global mourning for a great visionary. Impressive to see world political and financial leaders share their respect and admiration for Steve. Even long time competitors alike echo similar sentiments. Now that is quite an accomplishment to put a mark on your time on earth like that. Everyone should strive for goals like that.
I hope your iPod is loaded up with Bob Dylan songs wherever you are, Steve!
