It's not all lost, we did learn things about gardening. Self-watering containers ROCKS!! They are absolutely awesome. I think I found the perfect place to grow these guys.. on our roof-top balcony! All sun all day long.. and NO insects! The planters we have (below) ground level.. have many pests.
Like our Kale bush... it's been growing like mad.. unfortunately, they've been riddled with pests. (spiders, little green bugs, little white bugs, puffy green bugs, yuk!)
Our 2 blueberry bushes have now been transplanted into the ground. Let's hope they'll survive the winter!
Green and Red Peppers (Red ones become red AFTER they are grown up.... that's why you don't see any) Too many to count here!
Big Beef Tomatoes. Too bad they're not big (And too bad they're not beef!) O well.. these tiny little suckers was fun to watch grow anyways.
awesome! how are the self watering container plants? did they outgrow the container yet?
ReplyDeleteThe self watering containers are awesome. I never worry about over-watering. But, I find the tomatoes and peppers are water-hungry veggies! I need to water them daily.. whereas the blueberries and kale.... I can skip a couple of days or more. But, they are definitely a great way to grow stuff when space is limited. And if you really want to re-locate on the fly.
ReplyDeletebut they're not very easy on the eyes.
ReplyDeleteWell.. neither are the vegatables plants themselves! But, the containers has an easy fix. Just dunk the entire self-watering containter in a nice pottery pot. Fill the sides and top with rocks, mulch, or whatever... and you have something more 'easier on the eyes'.
ReplyDeleteO.... Ikea sells prettier self-watering containters.

But, it's $20... mine... it's free!
ooo, i likes! now i want one! hmm...which color and what plant....
ReplyDeleteI don't recommend gardening.. if you find yourself saying to yourself, "I don't have time" a lot. But, if you do choose to try it.. go for either tomatoes or blueberries. They are hardy and easy to grow. (Hardy is the key word!!)
ReplyDeleteblueberries are a GREAT idea! i don't think they're toxic to cats either! hmmmmm....
