Flat Stanley

In the book, Flat Stanley , by Jeff Brown in 1964, Stanley is squashed flat by a falling bulletin board. Being paper-thin, Stanley is able to visit the world and meet all kinds of amazing people by traveling around in an envelope.

Here Flat Stanley is in Vancouver!

Granville Island:

Recycling Centre: (where he made $6.10!)

meets a totem pole artist:

2010 Vancouver Olympic Oval in Richmond:

Kid's Market in Granville Island:

Stanley was sent by Melissa Chow, a third grader from Haley Elementary in Chicago. This is actually Stanley's second trip to Vancouver... last time he visited he took a detour to Hong Kong where he met an unfortunate end in a shopping mall's garbage bin. Sorry. I felt (still feel) like a jerk.
